We don't claim to be a carbon neutral company and don't believe that carbon offsetting is anything other than hype and window dressing. However . . .
- Our sites are hosted on the latest Dell servers, which consume up to 25% less than previous models (Dell figures). When compared with the previous generation of Dell servers, the latest models, which also have additional performance improvements, provide as much as three times the power for every watt of energy consumed.

- We get our electricity from Scottish Hydro, who are the UK’s largest generator of renewable electricity. Hydro make more energy from wind and water than any other energy company in the UK.

- All computers and other office equipment is switched off outside office hours, not left on overnight.

- Our main office workspace is small and well-insulated and except in extreme Winter conditions is heated almost entirely by natural sunlight plus the surplus heat from the computers we use. All lighting is low-energy.

- By living where we work commuting is all but eliminated. Business travel is kept to a minimum with almost all interaction with clients taking place over the web or by telephone.

- Use of consumables (laser toner, ink, paper etc) is kept to a minimum by the use of electronic invoices, quotations etc. Documents are only printed when absolutely necessary and all transactions are done online wherever possible.

So there you have it. No solar-powered servers or windmills on the office roof, but a genuine low-carbon operation nevertheless. It's not much, but every little helps.
