At just before midday today one of AuthSMTP's transit providers attempted to switch their connectivity over to a new switch platform on their network to increase capacity and resolve a fault they were experiencing. AuthSMTP only agreed to this to this on the strict understanding that it would result in a downtime of a few seconds. Unfortunately this failed catastrophically resulting in an extended outage for many AuthSMTP users who connected via that link.

Looking forward AuthSMTP intend to add extra capacity with another provider using completely separate connectivity to reduce the risk / impact of this type of fault. They apologise both for themselves and on behalf of their transit provider for any inconvenience this may have caused and stress that they are taking significant steps to reduce the risk of this happening again in the future.
